5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Oct 15)

4. Edge’s Storytelling Slickness

A few reaction tweets post-SmackDown claimed that Edge went through the motions during his sit-down promo that kicked off the show. This writer couldn't disagree with that enough. If anything, Edge seemed determined to recap the story between he and Seth Rollins before vowing to end him inside Hell In A Cell.

In short, it was bloody great.

Edge is in his element when he's tasked with a lengthy, serious rant. Seth's own promo was good later on, but even that couldn't touch this tortured brilliance from one of the best mic men in pro wrestling today. Edge was on fire as he brought up everything from family (even teasing a run in with Becky Lynch) to Rollins' home invasion sketch.

WWE's writing for this feud had started to dabble a little too much in unintentional comedy, mainly on Seth's side. Edge reeled that right back in by thundering his way through some of the best material you're likely to see on wrestling telly this week.
