5 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW Collision (May 25 - Results & Review)

3. What Was The Point Of This?

Right, the match itself was a decent, chaotic one that had some particularly fun spots from the always-impressive Buddy Matthews and Brody King. But really, what was the point of Collision's four-team contest?

This was the very definition of pointless TV filler, throwing eight bodies together to take up ten minutes of time. Much like is often the case with AEW programming, the work was good but just with zero to be invested in as the shadow of Double or Nothing looms large.

Of the eight men in this match, only the Acclaimed and the Gates of Agony are booked for Double or Nothing. So, did one of these teams pick up the win here in order to build further momentum for their respective PPV match? Of course not.

Instead, Matthews and King grabbed the win over the Infantry. In and of itself, that's not an awful decision considering how prominent a presence House of Black is on TV these days, but it is a somewhat questionable decision when the W here would've been better served going to one of the tandems that are actually in action at Double or Nothing.

Also, having the Acclaimed and the Gates of Agony brawl to the back was just a lazy way to excuse either team from being involved in the finish.
