5 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW Collision (May 25 - Results & Review)

2. The Worst Of Edge

AEW Collision Adam Copeland
AEW

Adam Copeland is a modern-day great, a Hall of Famer by any metric, an 11-time World Champion, and is someone involved in so many iconic pro wrestling moments from the past 25 years.

That said, there were times during Copeland's final couple of Edge years when his worse instincts came through when it pertained to overly dramatic, chin-stroking, smartest-man-in-the-room promos that served merely as an opportunity for the Canadian to show off the acting chops he'd honed over the years. It made for dull, rambling promos that were positioned as deep and meaningful but that came off as pretentious bullsh*t.

On Collision this week, those bad Edge habits came to the fore as the legend delivered some words to the House of Black following Buddy Matthews and Brody King's win in that four-way tag match. Devils on shoulders and in hearts were discussed, questions were asked of Buddy and Brody maybe joining with Copeland, and the Kerrang!-bating House of Blood name was even floated.

As mentioned, Adam Copeland should be viewed as one of the greatest of his generation, but at times he does need to be pulled back from going too, well, Preachy Edge, ala his ropey Judgment Day days.
