5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Feb 4)

Downs...

4. The Fan Cam

Look at the above gif. That's how Kenny Omega and Riho vs. Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford was shot.

The explanation is pretty simple: AEW probably didn't expect to air this match and likely made the decision to throw it onto Dark at the last minute, so they didn't record it like the Jericho Cruise's other content. They rolled with what is essentially fan cam footage without commentary.

Speaking subjectively as someone who consumes as many tiny independent shows as he does big, bombastic, mainstream events, this wasn't a problem for your writer. For others, though, it may be. Some viewers are going to see this rough and ready footage and think it makes AEW look small-time or rinky-dink. Objectively speaking, it probably does when viewed in a bubble - hence why it's a Down.

That's the Ups and Downs in a nutshell. The format is both objective and subjective, veering closer to the former on most occasions.
