5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Jan 19)

1. Guevara's Trip Down Under Almost Goes Wrong

El Australiano was once a rising prospect in AAA as Australian Suicide, so last night's match with Sammy Guevara was a good opportunity to see what he's capable of, particularly as there wasn't too much to last week's tag.

It turned out to be the best thing on the show. Though it began with trash talk and taunts, Australiano soon took control with his flashy lucha libre style. 'The Spanish God' is highly adept in this realm. Though Australiano worked him over for much for the first half, he looked right at home when tasked with matching his opponent's dives and flippydoos, turning the tide by countering one on the outside.

One rough landing for Australiano off his sideways Moonsault, this was as big a triumph as you could expect from two fun wrestlers in a six-minute bout on AEW's B-show. A solid promo in which Guevara claimed he was carrying Dark and Dynamite with a growing chip on his shoulder rounded it off.
