5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (27 April)

2. The Least Engaging High-Level Storyline In AEW History?

Undisputed Elite
AEW

The Undisputed Elite's in-fighting and long-running quest for cohesion is the most sports entertainment storyline in a promotion that books the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Rife with forced acting, tired interpersonal dynamics, and a trio of ex-WWE wrestlers who have essentially been playing the exact same characters on television for five years now, it is a weekly struggle - and feels amateur compared to the searing, organic content on display elsewhere in this promotion.

Last night, you were told to believe that the Undisputed Elite are suddenly on the same page because they defeated a crew of undercarders. The fivesome came together after besting the Varsity Blonds, Brock Anderson, Dante Martin, and Lee Johnson, having struggled to get it together early on, eventually scoring the win via Adam Cole's boom following a four-way BTE Trigger.

Now, suddenly, they are a well-oiled unit of mates.

It's a leap, and unfortunately typical of a feud starring some of the biggest names in the company. Hopefully it turns out to be no more than a placeholder for Kenny Omega's eventual return.
