5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (4 May)

4. Best Of The Best

Thunder Rosa
AEW

Thunder Rosa and Serena Deeb's promo battle wasn't the cleanest or most perfect thing on the show. Harmed by a couple of unnecessary interjections after Serena had emerged from the back and with the Women's World Champion's delivery not quite as engaging as when she is fired up and pissed off, it lacked a little polish.

But the content is textbook pro wrestling. Beyond that, it was also nice to see two members of the women's division engaging in this kind of back-and-forth talking segment for a change, as this doesn't often happen on AEW television.

Rosa hit the stage to cut a promo on being the best version of herself she can possibly be, elevating the women's division, and Deeb, who recently ascended to number one in the rankings. While broadly respectful, Deeb stated that holding the championship merely suggested that Rosa was the best. If the division is to truly soar, the title needs to be around the waist of its absolute best, which she promised will be the case after Double Or Nothing.

A competitive rivalry engineered through AEW's sport-like framework, this has stakes, clashing interests, and drama. A timeless setup - and one AEW can now make personal if they see fit.
