5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Dec 16)

2. “A Huge, Huge Advantage”?

Sammy Guevara Blood

Excalibur is the perfect announcer for All Elite's product. He's knowledgeable, loves modern pro wrestling and does a really good job of racing through those breathless rundowns of what's coming up the following week. They're impressive, but he dropped a bit of a clanger during Rampage's opener.

The masked man said that Sammy Guevara would have a "huge, huge advantage" going into 2023 if he beat Jon Moxley. The problem? Excalibur had also just said that AEW resets all win/loss records on 1 January. This episode aired on 16 December, so...why would beating Mox make Sammy's year worthwhile exactly?

That's the problem when your company only cares about win/loss records 50% of the time.

If the records get blasted back to an even 0-0 a few weeks from now, then Guevara toppling Mox wouldn't have much reckoning on his 2023 to come. It'd have to take place in 2023 for that to be the case. Hmm, these records need a rethink too.
