5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Dec 16)

Ups...

5. Now THAT’S A Promo

Onto the good Rampage had to offer, and there was a fair chunk of it.

FTR don't get enough praise for their promo work, but that's likely 'cause they're two of the best in-ringers the biz has and do more "talking" bell-to-bell. Here, both cut strong promos putting across their passion for wrestling and how the end of 2022 hasn't been awesome due to losing their ROH Tag-Team Titles.

They also had a mini-chuckle about Dax Harwood "breaking his ass bone" against The Briscoes at Final Battle; AEW put this over by censoring the screen as ol' Dax dropped trou mid-ring. Then, FTR turned their attention to The Gunns and vowed revenge for their involvement on Dynamite.

The whole segment was simple, strong and effective. It didn't eat up too much time on the broadcast, but got FTR out in front of the audience. That, in turn, made Rampage seem like a hot-enough destination for them to be there live rather than phone-in some pre-taped speech.
