5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage: Grand Slam (Sept 22 - Results & Review)

Ups...

5. Nice Showcase & Staredown

Mike Santana Ortiz
AEW

Squashes can be iffy in AEW, so it's cracking to report that Mike Santana's short win over Bronson worked a treat. His finisher probably needs some work, but Santana roared back onto the active wrestling map and looked chuffed to be out there. Fans in the stands were happy to see him working too.

Post-match, Ortiz walked out onto the stage with a slow clap and asked his old Inner Circle mate to come face to face. They did, then Mike breezed past Ortiz to leave brawls for future shows. That was the right move; let's hope AEW don't end up sitting on their feud like they did Keith Lee vs. Swerve Strickland though.

This must lead to something.

Santana looked healthy, jacked and ready to make a splash. If AEW can marry more matches like this with those vignettes they've been pushing, then he has a real chance to become a breakout singles success. Ortiz' job is pretty much to help get Mike there.
