5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 16)

4. Past Meets Future

Darby Allin Matt Hardy
AEW

Darby Allin and Matt Hardy proved they've got chemistry together on the 14 April 2021 episode of Dynamite. There, they worked a hot 'Falls Count Anywhere' bout for the TNT Title, and it must've been a real thrill for Darby to experience that against a childhood hero.

This wasn't quite as epic, but it was still a fun display of Allin's underdog mentality and showed what Matt still has left in the tank. Although other fans may feel differently, this one would much rather see Hardy work more singles like he did here than have another tag run alongside Jeff.

They're not The Hardys of old and never will be again, people.

Darby's daredevil Swanton Bomb onto the ring apron was flashy, and the fans were right there for everything these guys did. It's a huge compliment to both that the match could've gone on for another five minutes without any complaints.
