5 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jul 14)

2. A Thing That Happened

Tommy Dreamer and Crazzy Steve vs. Moose and Rohit Raju was technically the main event of this show, considering everything that followed this was a non-wrestling segment. For the final match heading into Slammiversary, this could have done a whole lot more to edge in a final slice of hype for the 18 July pay-per-view.

The majority of Dreamer's involvement in the match was slow and methodical, which isn't what you want to be seeing when the other three in the bout are more than capable of going at a high-octane pace. The big question here has to be, how does a man take himself out after hitting his own signature? The former ECW Champion gave Moose a Dreamer DDT, and appeared to do more damage to himself than he did to the reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion. The rivals brawled around ringside towards the climax of the bout, allowing Steve to plant Raju with a diving DDT for the three. A loss for Rohit was the icing on the cake for this to be a Down.

It just wasn't an enjoyable match. A real shame, considering Dreamer and Moose's work together in the last couple of weeks has been superb. Their match on Saturday will most likely be an alright affair, given the old school rules stipulation giving 'The Innovator of Violence' an environment he's more suited to. As for this? Don't go out of your way to watch it again any time soon.
