5 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's Impact Wrestling (Mar 15)

3. An Undeniable Attack

A new challenger for Taya Valkyrie’s Knockouts Championship has been determined, as Jordynne Grace overcame former champ Tessa Blanchard to earn her first opportunity at the title. While Jordynne’s victory will obviously do great things for her Impact career going forward, Tessa looked great even in defeat.

After she was pinned, Blanchard completely lost it. Shouting and screaming around ringside, Tessa turned her attention to the timekeeper and assaulted him in the ring. While it certainly wasn’t the most brutal attack in the world, it added a new dimension to Tessa’s character in Impact instead of her just being a good wrestler.

Furthermore, the timekeeper would eventually be saved by Hall of Famer Gail Kim, continuing the rivalry that’s been building between her and The Queen of the Carolinas. Gail got fully physical here, something we haven’t seen since she retired from competition. Impact are on to something really intriguing here between the pair. Here’s hoping it all culminates with a match.

In amongst all the shenanigans post-match, it’s easy to forget Jordynne Grace vs. Taya Valkyrie is a match happening in the near future. Talk about a potential showstealer!
