5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (24 Aug - Results & Review)

3. Vaquer, Perez Underperform

On paper, a match between Stephanie Vaquer and Roxanne Perez should be a smooth, crisp display of liquid professional wrestling.

However, the opening moments of the match looked like a struggle to get on the same page, an awkward jumble of exchanges and small miscommunications. If they were trying to portray an authentic fight and struggle, this did not give off that vibe.

Vaquer and Perez got it back together, because naturally they did, but this never reached the level it should have attained. Everything after the Devil’s Kiss clicked pretty well, but by then, they were digging out rather than building up.

Call this a victim of lofty expectations: if two lesser wrestlers delivered this same performance, it might have merited an “up.” But when you go into a match with two top-tier performers, the floor should be raised, and we should expect better things from them.
