5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 30)

1. Anything Can Happen

Was that a format tweak?!

It certainly was. Seth Rollins ambushed Edge during the commercial break. That, being brutally honest, is very un-WWE booking, but it's welcome. Fans who watched Edge make his entrance before the ads expected to see him in-ring when the show returned. Instead, it was Rollins, and Michael Cole recapped the attack.

Remember that old cry of, "Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation?" from Jim Ross. Well, this echoed that, and it made Seth's follow-up promo even more impactful. He came out looking unhinged and dangerous after smacking his enemy with a camera, and it didn't hurt that Seth was inspired on the mic too.

He's clearly loving the chance to feud with someone like the 'Rated-R Superstar', and that's cool. WWE's decision to switch up the presentation style here was refreshing. Long may it continue - they need to do stuff like this a bit more often.
