5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 41 - Night 2 (Results & Review)

2. A Brutal WWE Plunder Brawl

WWE hardcore matches (street fights, no DQ, etc.) have certain limitations and tropes that inhibit their ability to truly cut loose and exude the chaos that they promise.

Sunday, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest managed to work within those confines to have a really fun plunder brawl that matched the intensity and brutality of the feud in the weeks and months prior. There were the traditional chair and steel steps shots, but Drew and Damian battered each other repeatedly with the weapons before getting to the climax.

After a Razor’s Edge through a table, a FutureShock DDT on the steps and a back-and-forth exchange, Priest went for a ropewalk, only for Drew to shove him off to the floor and through two tables. He dragged Priest onto the turnbuckle and sandwiched Damian’s head against a steel chair with a Claymore to pick up the win.

It wasn’t a classic or even the best street fight of the year, but the second match on the card has a tough task – especially after an all-timer opener. This did an admirable job.
