5 Ups & 5 Downs For WWE Raw (15 Sept - Results & Review)

2. Lyra Overcomes Roxanne

This might surprise some of you, but Lyra Valkyria and Roxanne Perez are both very good at this wrestling thing, so when they got in the ring together Monday night, they put together a pretty good little match.

Clocking in at under 10 minutes, the singles bout didn’t overstay its welcome. Lyra carried her back injury through the entire match, with Roxanne targeting it but ultimately coming up short. Along the way, both women had some nice moments, with Perez yanking Valkyria off the top rope and driving her knees into Lyra’s back with that cartwheel splash, and Valkyria hitting a gutwrench powerbomb for a close two count and turning a crossface into a Nightwing to pick up the win.

As has been mentioned here numerous times, Lyra is a rare WWE character who connects with the fans more in the ring than she does in backstage segments or in-ring promos. Letting her wrestle is the best way to keep her in the fans’ good graces. And Roxanne is going to break out in the next year or so as she continues to impress every week.
