5 Ups & 5 Downs For WWE Raw (4 Aug - Results & Review)
1. Everyone Hates Seth
World title matches – and impromptu ones at that – ending in a disqualification after a lengthy run is typically an automatic negative, but the circumstances surrounding Monday’s main event provided a bit of cover.
LA Knight and Seth Rollins battled for the World Heavyweight Championship, but the match came to an abrupt end when CM Punk leaped the barricade and attacked Rollins, triggering the DQ. This rightly pissed off Knight, but there was little time for him and Punk to hash out their differences, as Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed attacked, laying out both men.
Cue Roman Reigns, who also had a bone to pick with Rollins and The Vision. Unfortunately for him, the numbers game was too much to overcome, and he fell to a stomp, spear, and three Tsunamis. Reed also added to his “shoelafala” collection.
This seems to be headed toward a six-man tag match at Clash in Paris, which should be fine as a side quest match for everyone before they get to the business of Roman and Punk challenging for the title and to get their revenge on Rollins. Knowing all three babyfaces have friction with each other also ensures that the heel stable has a credible route to victory.
While not the most compelling story, it should serve its purpose of keeping Rollins, Reigns, and Punk (and Knight) in each other’s orbit for future matches.
