2. CM Punk Cuts To The Soul

AEW addressed Jon Moxley's situation with the required levels of care, respect, and empathy last night, not turning it into a storyline, but acknowledging its existence in ways that invoked sympathy and class.

It started with the announcers, who wished Moxley well at the top of the show. Later, CM Punk spoke on the matter more directly, relating to the pressure Moxley feels, encouraging anyone watching to seek help if they feel a similar way, and empathizing with the situation.

"I don't want anybody to criticise Jon Moxley because I am goddamn proud of him," Punk said. It was clear, too, that the entire building was with him, and how could they not be? Jon Moxley is a folk hero. Here's to his recovery.

Empathy conquers all - and Punk, a straight-edger whose father battled alcoholism, was the perfect orator.

The other part of Punk's promo was building his feud with Eddie Kingston, which sparked up after a backstage confrontation on last week's Rampage. They'll now go face-to-face on Friday's show. That segment will likely see both men melt their microphones thanks to the lava they'll throw at each other, so here's hoping it leads to a Full Gear match.
