5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (3 Nov)
4. American Tantrum Team
The verbiage used in these American Top Team vs. Inner Circle segments is dumb, regressive, and needs to go.
A babyface making jokes about a women's promiscuity for pops shouldn't have a place in today's wrestling landscape. Chris Jericho has been doing it for several weeks now, harking back to his old Attitude Era persona to try and humiliate Paige VanZant as part of this program, and it's bad. Not as bad as Dan Lambert's homophobic Sammy Guevara joke from a few weeks, but bad nonetheless.
It doesn't matter if PVZ okayed these phrases. AEW has a 50-year-old man effective slut-shaming a woman almost half his age on national television. The optics are objectively horrendous there - and the taste levels even worse.
Lambert's temper tantrum at being named one of the ATT members who'll face the Inner Circle at Full Gear was amusing, and he teed it up well. His pay-per-view comeuppance will be well served. Regardless, this matters little at the moment, with these rants the kind that actively hold the wrestling business back from progressing.
