5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 14)

Ups...

5. FINALLY

Swerve Strickland Keith Lee
AEW

Onto the good stuff.

Keith Lee told Swerve Strickland he's "swerving into the wrong lane" by "kinda cheating" to beat Billy Gunn. This simple play on words worked, but maybe that's because this fan is sick of 'Swerve In Our Glory' as a tag-team. A split must happen soon, because Keith would be better off on his own.

Strickland is a natural heel anyway, and fans are starting to ignore his "WHO'S HOUSE?!" catchphrase. That's something he should keep doing as a villain, basically. AEW could get some mileage out of Swerve turning on big Keef, then programming these ex-partners in a series of competitive matches.

Side note: Renee Paquette ties everything together during these backstage promos. She's a huge step up from Alex Marvez, and gives segments way more credibility. Her questions are direct, and she doesn't oversell every little thing. It's great to have her for these interview scenes.
