5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (2 Jan - Review)

4. Impromptu Tag/Handicap/Tag Match

It might be a new year, but WWE is holding fast to their trope of a promo turning into an impromptu match.

This time, it was Bayley being interrupted by Becky Lynch, which led to Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky fighting Lynch and a tag partner of her choosing. The Man being The Man, Becky declined to even look for a partner and just went it alone before being joined by Mia Yim (once again going by Michin) mid-match.

The match itself was fine, but the numbers game caught up to Yim and Lynch, with Sky getting a blind tag and hitting an Over-the-Moonsault to pin Michin.

Yeah, so Yim gets some shine as a surprise partner for the biggest star in the division, and then promptly eats the pinfall. There’s always a chance this gets followed up on, but combined with the impromptu challenge and match, we’re just going to give this one a “down.”
