5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (20 May - Results & Review)
3. Breakker Steamrolls, Possibly Murders Jobber
The time-honored tradition of a new monster force massacring a jobber has proven itself effective at putting over a new superstar and the imminent danger that accompanies them time and time again.
But when it’s Bron Breakker repeatedly spearing a hapless Kale Dixon and then squashing his head into steel steps with a chair, there’s little comparison. Breakker made it clear that his path of destruction Monday night was a direct result of Raw GM Adam Pearce not putting him in the King of the Ring tournament, continuing to pay forward on Bron’s mutterings from a couple of weeks ago.
Rooting Breakker’s actions in his anger over being excluded from the tournament put over Bron’s desire to compete, as well as the tournament itself as a prestigious event. That in itself is a smart little bit of storytelling.
His assault on Ricochet continued the path of destruction and turned it to the main roster itself. Given Ilja Dragunov’s reaction in the aftermath, there are two future opponents for Breakker on the horizon. Great night for Bron.
