5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 11)
4. Bayley = Smart
SmackDown's promo wasn't Bayley's strongest since turning heel, but it got the job done.
She returned to her old shaky-voiced, under confident self in parts, which was weird, but did spin a believable tale about keeping Sasha Banks close at hand so she could use her to become the longest-reigning Women's Champ around. This, if nothing else, gives Banks a reason to beat the snot out of her when she returns.
Bayley was stringing Banks along, but only because Sasha was doing the same to her. Like in the ongoing Intercontinental Title huddle, there's a compelling grey area to all of this that's really making it work well. To explain, Sasha can't soon claim that she wasn't making eyes at the SmackDown Women's Title.
It's just cool that Bayley noticed that. Too many characters in WWE are oblivious to anything that happens in backstage segments (almost like they don't watch anything back or have family members/friends who do), but not Bayley.
