5 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night’s WWE Raw (Dec 8th)
3. Charlotte's Raw Debut Was Poor
It was great to see the NXT Women's Champion Charlotte on Raw. Prior to her match, a short video aired with her talking about how she was genetically superior to others because her dad is Ric Flair. You would think that her debut would feature her in a match that got 7-10 minutes to show how athletic she was. Instead, her match with Natalya saw her doing boring moves that looked like everybody else. She was even saying "Woo" and doing chops even though she almost never does those things in NXT. In addition to that, Charlotte lost to Natalya clean. While Natalya is a very good performer, she could have lost here and it wouldn't have mattered. The whole point of this match was to make people want to watch Charlotte on NXT, so why would you book her to lose? Makes no sense at all! People want to watch winners, not losers. The average fan that has never watched NXT has no interest in NXT after that performance. It's really not a hard concept to understand. If you want somebody to look like a star, book them to win a match and allow them a chance to shine. If you want them to look like a loser, do what WWE did with Charlotte on Monday. For a better use of Charlotte, watch her match against NXT Takeover from May 2014 when they had one of the best women's matches ever. It really was a classic. Also watch the NXT special on Thursday when she faces Sasha Banks, who is another talented diva in NXT.
