5 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (25 Aug)

3. Don Callis Things

Don Callis was Dynamite's MVP last night. He was exceptional in his in-ring segment with Christian Cage and Kenny Omega, playing the perfect slimeball for Cage to rip in a storyline that has gotten great following the wrestlers' recent IMPACT World Title match.

Callis and Kenny hit the ring with plenty to say. Unfortunately for them, Christian came out within a few sentences, localising his banter for easy pops on the way down before drawing crowd chants with his "carny piece of sh"t" tag for Don. Speaking of Don, he was hilariously restrained by Kenny as Cage dropped his verbal bombs (as if a man of Callis' stature can harm a professional athlete), screaming "hold my scarf!" as if he was about to leap into a fight, inviting the POS chants himself when he asked, "you know what that makes me?!".

The guy knows exactly what he's doing.

Frankie Kazarian making the save with a lead pipe saved Cage from Omega, Brandon Cutler, and MT Nakazawa, setting up Rampage's main event tag match in the process. The incorporation of Cage's early indie footage from Road To was a smart move, too, shedding further light on the feud's core theme of Don taking credit for breaking Christian into the business.
