5 Ups & 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 10)

4. Setting Her Up For Success

No one is expecting Eva Marie to have four-star matches on PPV… or maybe even two-star matches on Raw. Hopefully, no one is really expecting her to be a role model for others, as she said in her latest vignette on Monday.

Eva Marie continued to lean on her beauty as her calling card during her video package, which was of a photoshoot. Eva told the camera that she’s achieved levels of fame and fortune she never imagined possible at the beginning of her career. She called herself a super-role model who wanted to see people’s wildest dreams come true – if they put in the work.

Now, that certainly sounds John Cena-esque in terms of trying to inspire people, but knowing Eva Marie from her previous run and how fans did and presumably will perceive her, WWE would be smart to lean into that and approach it ironically. She views herself as a role model, but some smugness creeps in – she wants the best for everyone, but no one works hard enough to earn it. And so on.

If WWE is going in this direction, it could work. If not, then holy hell this company is screwed with its planning.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
