5 Ups & 6 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jun 7)

3. Opening Match Delivers

In the opening bout to this week’s Impact, we saw Ace Austin taking on Cousin Jake from The Deaners. On paper, this may not seem like the most important match from the night’s proceedings, but it certainly delivered. In addition, we also saw a continuation of the rivalry that’s been brewing between The Deaners and The Desi Hit Squad.

While Ace and Jake were doing their absolute best in the ring, Rohit Raju and Raj Singh stormed the ringside area to take out Cody Deaner, prompting Jake to come to his aid. This distracted him long enough for the new Double A to hit The Fold, adding another tick to the win column. The right winner here, plus storyline development. There’s not much more you can ask for from a wrestling match – it’s not always about the high spots y’know.

Ace Austin is someone who’s came on leaps and bounds since first arriving in Impact. Remember back to when he debuted? This column gave it a Down because there simply wasn’t enough space in the X Division for another star. Well, Ace made space for himself by being that extra bit better than some of the others. Props to him.
