5 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Clash Of Champions 2020

2. A Really Tough Blow

It’s hard to give a “down” when someone gets injured, largely because it’s not their fault, and they shouldn’t be penalized in this column for the injury.

However, we’re pointing the finger squarely at WWE booking as the culprit here.

For six months, the Street Profits have been having to deal with the tandem of Andrade & Angel Garza. For the majority of that period, the challengers have been unable to stay on the same page, sparring with each other and teasing breakups almost every other week. Then suddenly, their manager ditched them and *poof!* their problems as a team were gone.

Sunday, Garza and Andrade looked like a well-oiled machine and seemed poised to end the Profits’ nearly seven-month reign as Raw Tag Team Champions. But a late match injury to Angel’s leg seemed to throw all of that off, as the referee clearly called an audible and counted 3 on a pinfall where Andrade clearly kicked out at 2.

WWE booking spent a half-year spinning their wheels with Andrade & Garza, having them go nowhere and do next to nothing, and then when it looked like there was a decent chance they were finally going to move the ball forward and give them the titles, one of the wrestlers got injured and threw everything off.

So glad we’ve spent six months watching a team implode, then get on the same page, only for fate to intervene.
