Once upon a time, Shayna Baszler was one of the most feared wrestlers in the company. Those days have long since passed, and even a SummerSlam victory over Ronda Rousey hasn’t rehabbed her image completely.

But Monday night, Baszler had probably her best, most competitive wrestling match in a long time against old rival Becky Lynch. The two started off slowly and almost uncomfortably as they struggled for control, but they soon were exchanging submission attempts and countering each other’s signature moves, all to earn a spot in the Elimination Chamber later this month.

The match devolved into repeated slaps before Becky got the Manhandle Slam for the win, punching her ticket for the Chamber. For Baszler, it was another disappointment, but fans finally got to see her wrestle a meaningful singles match and not get wiped off the mat like an afterthought.
