There was little doubt that Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins were going to have a banger of a pro wrestling match at WrestleMania Backlash Sunday night. But they actually told a story along the way.

The announcers made a point of noting how Cody’s edge via element of surprise was gone from Mania, and true enough, Rollins got the upper hand early on a few times to illustrate that point. The two traded offense several times throughout, countering each other and constantly battling for a sustained advantage.

Rollins looked to be closing in on a win a few ties, including when he capitalized on a missed moonsault with a Pedigree for a 2-count. But he got cute by mocking Dusty Rhodes, which allowed Cody to get back into the fight and counter a rollup (with tights) with one of his own (with tights).

While a perfectly clean win would have been best, Rhodes’ victory keeps his perfect record intact, while giving the Drip God something to continue whining about.
