5 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022

It was only a matter of time before “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey captured gold in her second run with WWE. That time came Sunday night at WrestleMania Backlash.

Rousey and Charlotte Flair battled in an “I Quit” match, with each woman switching between submission holds and foreign objects to try to get a vocal tap-out. It was a pretty vicious brawl, as the fight moved to the outside pretty quickly and the women battled into the crowd before coming back down to ringside, then up the ramp, and finally back to ringside.

Flair locked in the Figure-8, but Rousey used a chair to break the hold. Then Charlotte got mouthy, telling Ronda “Happy Mother’s Day,” which only incensed the Rowdy One, as she grabbed an armbar through a chair, then torqued the arm through and against it to finally get Flair to quit.

Rousey winning is probably the right call, though who her first opponent is will be interesting, as the two of them demolished two other nine women on the roster in mere seconds in the lead-up to their Backlash match.
