5 Ups & 7 Downs For AEW In 2023 (So Far)

2. An ‘Iron Man’ Classic

AEW Revolution 2023 MJF Bryan Danielson

60-minute matches are a risk in the age of endless scrolling and lower-than-ever attention spans. Remarkably, unlike the aforementioned Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole snore, MJF vs. Bryan Danielson at Revolution raced by whilst somehow still feeling epic.

That speaks to the talent of both men.

Their 'Iron Man' match at Revolution was a pure joy. It was excellently-worked from start to finish, had the right winner, and was all-round wrestling goodness without interruption. If anything, it's the kind of bout purists wanted from AEW when the promotion launched in 2019.

A LeBell Lock finish in overtime made MJF the captain of sh*thousery too. That was a neat touch, one that sold him as AEW's premier heel. Danielson, to his credit, did everything in his power to cement Friedman's World Title reign. Mission accomplished, gentleman.

What a classic.
