5 Ups & 7 Downs For AEW In 2023 (So Far)
6. Missed Opportunities In The Tag Ranks
The Acclaimed deserved way more than they got from AEW after becoming Tag-Team Champions last September. Despite clearly becoming one of the most popular acts in wrestling, the duo lost those belts to The Gunns on Dynamite in February. Then, to top things off, Billy's sons lost to FTR in early-April.
It's hard to hate on FTR bagging belts, but stability is needed. The AEW tag-team scene is pretty much in the same state as the TNT Title division. Things have been rather erratic, and Tony Khan has to yet to prove that he can settle down a little here. Hopefully, FTR will calm his booking style.
It's anyone's guess what the future holds for Anthony Bowens and Max Caster though. They've moved sideways to the Trios Title scene alongside Billy Gunn, but were unable to take the belts from House Of Black at Double Or Nothing.
Has AEW poured cold water on The Acclaimed just as they caught fire?
