5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 16)

2. Thirsting For A Solo Shot

WWE is atrocious at long-term storytelling (or even just basic week-to-week storytelling), but one angle they’ve done a decent job with has been Miz and John Morrison.

The duo has been inseparable since JoMo returned to WWE last year, but some small fractures have shown from time to time in recent months. Miz’s injury derailed things a bit, but Morrison took the opportunity to wrestle several singles matches, exhibiting more of a babyface style and launching his Johnny Drip-Drip persona in full force, as if he was previewing a new chapter.

We got a serious rift, when Morrison debuted Moist TV and interviewed Miz, immediately asking if he was acting and pretending to be injured. Miz finally admitted later that he had been cleared to wrestle for a few weeks, but he remained in the wheelchair (with Morrison pushing him around).

During Miz’s match against Damian Priest, Morrison offered the drip stick to help his buddy out, but pulled it back and walked off, leaving Miz to eat a Brogue Kick (yes, for real). Now afterwards, the two made up backstage, but you can already see America’s Moist Wanted getting ready to break out… hopefully.

Of course, Vince McMahon will probably forget about it in two weeks and have them team together for another six months.
