5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 16)

1. Feuding Over A Sword

A feud between Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal was never going to set the world on fire, but at least it had a backstory and some potential: The two have known each other for a decade, teamed together in 3MB and are former world champions.

So naturally, the writers turned this into a story about McIntyre’s sword, which is now named after his dead mother. Because WWE.

You literally can’t make that stuff up. Jinder and his heavies, Shanky and Veer, discussed the need to beat Drew so they could take away his sword. And if they were successful, then surely McIntyre would fall to Mahal at SummerSlam… because his powers reside in the sword like He-Man?

Drew has been brandishing the sword like crazy lately, waving it around and threatening to dismember Jinder, his goons and Baron Corbin. You’ve got to wonder if Vince is planning to sell toy Angela swords (and a foam stone to sheath the blade) or something. Either way, this is ridiculous.
