5 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw After WrestleMania (April 4)
6. Squashing A Child ‘Prodigy’
For more than a year now, we’ve had to endure the announcers telling us how Dominik Mysterio is a solid up-and-comer in WWE, wrestling royalty as the son of legendary luchador Rey Mysterio.
While we could seriously dispute that claim just by pointing to his contemporaries in WWE alone, it’s one thing for fans to have doubts – it’s another to watch the company just murder his character in 90 seconds. Dominik was set to face Miz in singles action in the aftermath of their tag team match at WrestleMania 38. Surely Miz, who turned on Logan Paul after they had won, would face some repercussions for his actions, right?
Wrong. Miz took over immediately and nailed the Skull-Crushing Finale in seconds to pick up the squash win, effectively burying Dominik as a jobber. Then Veer Mahaan finally made his way to Raw, walked out and demolished both Mysterios, putting Dom in a Camel Clutch variant and laying him out.
While this writer’s patience with how Dominik has been touted is gone, that still doesn’t mean WWE should just turn him into Duane Gill in one night. Drew Gulak gets better consideration than Dom did Monday night.
