5 Ups And 1 Down From Last Night's NXT (Jul 15)
2. R-E-S-P-E-C-T, Find Out What It Means To Lee
Just two big lads, two big mates, having a big old meaty fight, for those big old shiny belts. Not a Super Serious TV Main Event™ or a 'Please Dave, Just A Crumb Of 5 Star' TakeOver Match, just two big lads - two big mates! - having a big old meaty fight.
There were some great spots here. Lee calling back to smashing the plexiglass last week, an impossible one-arm slam, and a shoulder charge that, had it hit me, would have required air crash investigators to try and identify my remains. Everything about this, from start to finish, was joyous big-man pro-wrestling. Despite not going as hard or as long as their previous meetings, this might have been their most enjoyable encounter.
I would have been really sniffy about this pairing if they'd announced it in advance but, in a single match, they've made Kieth Lee feel like he's been the double champion for about 3 years and rehabilitated Dijakovic after a really underwhelming 2020. Adding Scarlett Bordeaux to the mix at the end a chilling tease that the real tests are yet to come.
