Downs...

1. Only Two Matches

When the worst thing you can say about a wrestling program is that there were too few matches, you know you just watched an outstanding program.

However, it was disappointing that the first episode of the second round of the tournament only featured two bouts, great as though they were. With 16 men in the second round, you know there have to be eight matches, and knowing the rest of the tournament has to fit into the six remaining episodes, the second round probably will be spread over three weeks. (And indeed, there are three matches slated for next week, and then likely three the following week to give us three episodes to finish the Elite Eight, Final Four and championship match.)

And while you can say that having two matches allowed the episode to “breathe” a little, the program was only 47 minutes long, so it easily could have housed a third bout. But again, that is an extremely minor point.
