5 Ups And 3 Downs For This Week's NXT (Sept 2)

2. Samoa Joe And Finn Balor Form A Tag Team

The team of Samoa Joe and Finn Balor should definitely be considered among the favourites in the tag team tournament after they agreed to partners. They are teaming up for a match against The Lucha Dragons that will air next week on NXT. This has the potential to be something special if they use it as a way to start a feud between them. Balor's the babyface NXT Champion that really doesn't need to win the tournament, so what they should do is use this opportunity to turn Joe into a heel that can challenge Balor for the NXT Title. Right now, one of the things that is hurting the NXT brand is the lack of top heels on the show. They just don't have many guys that can be considered viable contenders to Balor's title. Joe can be that guy because he's been a great heel in TNA when they needed to be and he can certainly do it on NXT as well. Yes, Joe's a popular guy that is considered "cool" by the fans, but any wrestler can turn and be effective if they know what they are doing. A slow burn heel turn by Joe would be a great way to capitalize on this new alliance with Balor. If they don't feud, then at least seeing them together will be a cool sight.
