5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 11)
1. Belt Theft Again
Last night, during her 6-man tag match against Bayley, Alexa Bliss stole Bayley's title and ran off with it. Yoink, she went, before scarpering off with it. That's the level of shenanigans we're dealing with, in Bayley's first feud since her industry-altering run against Sasha Banks: Simpsons-level snatch n' grabbing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWdAq-qHt8M There's a couple of reasons why I hate belt snatching. First of all, it's been done so much over the last year. Dean Ambrose stole Seth Rollins' Money in the Bank briefcase before filling it with green gunge (lolz); then came the absolute farce that was the build to the Intercontinental Title ladder match at Wrestlemania, with everyone from R-Truth to Stardust to (again) Dean Ambrose swiping the belt; and after that came the WWE World Heavyweight Title being nicked from Seth Rollins by none other than... yup, WWE's resident kleptomaniac, Dean Ambrose. Over the course of the last 12 months, it's become a really tired trope. This is the first time that the act of stealing has been attributed to an actual heel, so give NXT credit for that, but it's old. Second of all, no one looks good here. It's playground villainy on behalf of Alexa, relegating her from a fighting women to a sneaky little girl, and it makes Bayley look weak, scampering around after her belt saying "hey... hey, no fair... give it baaaaack." No one looks good here.
