5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 11)

Ups...

5. Apollo Showing Some Emotion

Apollo Crews, for all his impressive displays of athletics and the kind of look that WWE would kill to have on their books, has begun to accrue some criticism, based on the rather vacant personality he's been displaying thus far. Sure, the 'Who Is Apollo Crews' mini-doc was affecting but, so far, Crews has been a cookie-cutter babyface - simple and pure, with a goofy grin, who's just happy to be here, y'all. Fans tire quickly of the 'White Meat Babyface', a hero who's all smile and no substance, especially since the age of the anti-hero tweener (Rock, Stone Cold, Undertaker, CM Punk et al). After a non-existent feud with Tyler Breeze, and a brief and respect-driven one with Finn Balor, Apollo needed to start showing some fire. His program with Corbin should be a good showcase for that. Apollo bludgeoned Baron Corbin before his match with Dillinger, tore his shirt open in anger and cut a brief but furious promo on Corbin backstage. It was short, but his best mic-work today and proof that, while babyface/babyface encounters can thrill, nothing gets the blood up like a good guy/bad guy dynamic.
