5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown (Aug 27)

Ups...

5. Rich Brennan On Commentary

This week on Smackdown, Rich Brennan was the main play by play guy for the show. According to a WWE.com article, he's taken over as the lead announcer on Smackdown effective immediately. I really like Brennan; maybe it's because I love NXT and Brennan's been the main voice of that show for so long that I've gotten used to him. In addition to NXT, Brennan had been the main commentator on Main Event with Jerry Lawler, so they've built up some pretty good chemistry. Jimmy Uso serves a purpose as an active wrestler that gets excited about everything, so I don't mind him. It was noted that Brennan was from Rhode Island, so he got to host the show from his home state. I just thought Brennan does a better job of any current WWE play by play guy in terms of calling the moves and handling the guys he's working with. Brennan is also very good at getting excited at the right time and speaking with a serious tone when he needs to as well. If this is a permanent move then that would suck for Phillips because he's pretty good at his job, but I think Brennan is better long term.
