5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown (Aug 27)

4. A Clean Victory For Kevin Owens Over Neville

Kevin Owens is starting to get momentum again. He won a crucial match against Cesaro at SummerSlam and then he beat Neville clean on Smackdown as well. This match was a lot of fun because they made the most of the nine minutes they were given. Neville's fast paced offense is a nice alternative to the power of Owens, who showed off some really impressive moves during the match like a spinning neckbreaker when he had Neville on his shoulders. Neville made the comeback, looked like he might win after a great German Suplex and then an impressive superkick outside the ring. He went for the Red Arrow, but Owens was able to avoid it. Owens nailed a huge superkick of his own, then connected with a Popup Powerbomb and that was it. Owens is well on his way to solidifying his spot as a successful upper midcard wrestler in WWE. I don't know if he's being positioned for it, but I think he'd be perfect as the next Intercontinental Champion. We'll see if it happens.
