5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Dec 3)
3. The New Day Come Across As True Villains
Legendary announcer Jim Ross recently stated his belief that The New Day can't be considered out and out heels. JR's point revolved around the fact that Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E have great interaction with the audience, and do make people laugh. In the podcaster's eyes, that's not what heels do. Smackdown aided that problem a little, and it was well done. Even though the opening segment was hindered by piped in crowd noise, The New Day did create one interesting scenario. Facing Dean Ambrose and The Usos, they ascertained that the babyfaces would not be able to help Roman Reigns later in the show if they lost. This would mean that Reigns would have to face the League Of Nations all on his own. The New Day did defeat Ambrose and The Usos, meaning they were barred from the main event. In the process, they looked like heels, because they were taunting and teasing the good guys. Simple little things like this can go a long way to gaining heat for New Day, who are more likeable and entertaining than half of the babyface roster.
