5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (June 23)

2. Yo-Yo Booking For Apollo Crews

At Money In The Bank, Apollo Crews earned a shock roll up win over Sheamus in the mid card. This was Apollo's first ever WWE pay-per-view win, but it was treated more like a fluke than a genuine coming of age moment. That idea was furthered on SmackDown, Crews lost to Sheamus by count out.

Admittedly, the defeat was well worked by the performers themselves. Sheamus crashed Apollo into the steel steps, and in a rare moment of selling the impact of the stairs, Crews was unable to reach the ring before the count of 10. This was probably better than having him lose by pinfall to Sheamus, but it's another example of yo-yo booking.

Already, the match between both guys at Money In The Bank is old news. Apollo's win means nothing if he's just going to lose to the Irishman on television the very next week. This was obviously viewed as the best way to continue the feud, but losing to Sheamus does little for Crews right now.
