5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (March 10)
7. Ryback As Kalisto's Challenger Is A Tough Sell
WWE.comFollowing a tag-team match involving the WWE United States Champion, Ryback cut a promo on Kalisto backstage. The main crux of the interview seemed to revolve around the idea that the masked man cannot win because he's small. This flies in the face of the fact he's the current US Champ. Generally, Ryback's speaking parts should be kept to a minimum. It's fine to cast him as a bully-boy heel again, but such a renewed push has really come out of nowhere. WWE didn't do much with the 'Big Guy' for months, now fans are expected to hate him. Why, because he thinks he can beat Kalisto to bag the gold? That's not a sound enough reason to jeer a villain, WWE have painted themselves into a corner a little by even proposing such a feud. Kalisto vs. Ryback is unlikely to be memorable at WrestleMania, and it's a bit of a lame duck bout for the United States Title. Everything about it just screams 'Kickoff' show.
