5 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT New Year's Evil (Jan 4)
4. The Dusty Rhodes Classics Return
As the New Year rolls into town, so too usually comes the arrival of the NXT staple that has become the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. And what do you know, 2022 will see the Dusty Cup return once more!
As of last year, said tournament was multiplied in order to give the developmental gals some spotlight as well, and hopefully this increased attention on both tag divisions can finally address and build some of the lesser appreciated units on the brand.
Of course, there'll no doubt be a few goober squads thrown into this year's mix to make up the numbers. But should 2.0 decide to double down on a fresh new team or even, dare I say it, back one of their already freakishly talented duos and finally make them feel a tad credible - looking at you, GYV - then this Dusty Cup could help reignite both of the flailing divisions.
Or, they'll just have two singles stars win it again and quickly forget about the whole thing by April... Either way, at least the matches will be class. So, buckle up, I guess!
