5 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 29)
1. Whatever Happened To Enzo And Cass?
Last night, the team of Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson picked up something of a shock win over Enzo and Big Cass. The match was expected to be, if not a squash, certainly a victory by the Jersey Duo. After all, they're the most over tag team on the roster and were recently screwed out of a championship win by Bliss, Blake and Murphy. A fan with even slight booking awareness would have had them pegged to remain strong contenders for another title shot in the weeks to follow. Alas, they lost the #1 Contenders' match to The Vaudevillains and this latest loss puts them even further from the gold. This is not to knock the booking too harshly. Frankly, in NXT where the divide between 'those on the way up' and 'enhancement' is fairly obvious, there should be fewer one-sided matches and more shock decisions, and indeed Wilder and Dawson's victory creates yet another legitimate tag team contender to join the division. However, fans can't help but be worried by the back-to-back losses being suffered by the once-golden Enzo and Cass. With a New York show right around the corner, putting the belts on the bonafide G and his seven foot tall buddy still makes a huge amount of sense, so here's hoping that this recently slump is part of a larger storyline, rather than an indication that management are losing faith in the team.
