5 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 29)

2. Kevin Owens Picks Up A Win

A few months ago, this wouldn't be seen as noteworthy. Kevins Owens has seen his star fade significantly over the last few weeks. This is not to suggest that people should be worried for Owens (from all appearances he's about to enter a feud with Cesaro, which has the potential to be blisteringly good) but it has been somewhat jarring to see him go from utter dominance to constant defeat in the space of a few short months. The slump was broken after a relatively meaningless, but nevertheless welcome win over Martin Stone, former WWE developmental talent, previously known as Danny Burch. Owens not only made short work of Stone but victimised him after the match, giving him a power bomb on the ring apron, before taking to the turnbuckle to mimic Finn Balor's entrance pose. It's a small but significant victory for Owens, a desperately-needed glimpse of his once-natural dominance.
